OUR EPIRROES
Messinia, Arkadia, and Naxos are the places where our parents spent their childhoods, shaping the values and traditions they passed down to us. The land was farmed with unconditional devotion and provided them with nature’s bounty. Across generations, we continue to honor this gastronomic tradition with gratitude and pride.
FARAKLADA, MESSINIA
In 1947, Polyxeni and Giannis, carry on the olive-growing tradition by taking care of the family groves, already planted with Koroneiki variety from the 1800s, in the small seaside village of Faraklada, in southwestern Peloponnese, Greece.
Two decades later, their son Theodore, true to the tradition of their commitment to olive cultivation, increases the number of olive trees and raises production.
Today, the care of the olive groves has been trusted to his daughter, Natasa, who, with love and vision, continues the family tradition by combining the experience of the past with contemporary cultivation methods.
KANDILA, ARKADIA
In the early 1950s, Christos and Ifigenia, plant the first Manaki variety olive trees and graft wild olive trees in the village of Kandila, situated in a mountainous area of Arkadia, in central Peloponnese, Greece.
Later, their son Panos takes on the care of the olive groves and introduces his son, Manos, to the skill of olive growing.
In 2022, additional varieties were planted (Koroneiki, Arbequina, Picual, Athinolia, Nemioutiana) to evaluate the quality characteristics, which, in combination with the terroir of the olive groves, located at an altitude of 750m-850m, will produce high-quality blends. The cultivation of these varieties is still in its early stages.
NAXOS
This is the island of our grandparents Manolis and Ageliko. The largest in the Cyclades, blessed with natural abundance, producing globally recognized products due to their exceptional quality and uniqueness. Some of these products include their renowned variety of gruyere and arseniko cheeses, beef, honey, and the famed citrus liqueur.
Our collaborations with small producers from the mountain villages of Naxos aim to bring authentic flavors and aromas to your family table or culinary business.
The word “ἐπιρροή” is formed from the prefix ἐπί (“upon” or “towards”) and the word ῥοή (“flow” or “stream”). In Ancient Greek, it described the inflow or gathering of liquid, the movement of liquid flowing towards a certain point. This concept is linked to the Latin word “influentem,” which derives from the verb “influere” (“to flow in” or “to flow towards something,” from “in-” = “in” and “fluere” = “to flow”). This Latin root is the basis of the modern word “influence” in both English and French.
Over time, the meaning evolved from the literal “flow of liquid” to a broader, more metaphorical sense, describing the power or effect exerted by something upon something else, such as the influence of people or ideas on others.
Our influences… our family tradition of nurturing the land with a deep love for cultivation, starting with the exceptional extra virgin olive oil, the most precious liquid gift Greece has to offer, alongside its sea.
